Industry: Renewable Energy / Solar
Customer Background:
An Australian solar tracking system supplier deploying utility-scale solar projects exceeding 100 MW in remote desert regions.
Challenge
Solar tracking systems operate outdoors for long periods and are exposed to demanding environmental conditions, including:
- Temperature fluctuations from -10°C to 65°C.
- Heavy dust and occasional rainfall.
- High UV exposure that caused standard PVC cables to crack within two years.
- The need for reliable data transmission between individual tilt sensors and the central controller.
Our Solution
Shanwei Link provided:
- UV-resistant outdoor M12 A-coded sensor connectors with IP68 sealing.
- Special low-temperature-resistant TPU cables for desert and high-altitude environments.
- M12 signal distribution boxes for connecting multiple tracker sensors in parallel.
Before mass production, the materials were tested for UV aging and salt spray corrosion.
Results
After three years of outdoor operation:
- No cable cracking or sealing degradation was reported.
- Stable sensor signal transmission contributed to reduced tracker accuracy errors.
- Field maintenance visits decreased by 60% compared with the customer’s previous connector solution.
