A manufacturer of outdoor weather stations and industrial surveillance cameras for smart city and environmental monitoring projects.
Challenge
The customer’s cameras are installed on poles and rooftops, including many locations in humid coastal environments with salt mist.
The main connection problems included:
- RJ45 connectors oxidizing in humid, salty air.
- Rainwater and lightning surges damaging network ports.
- Standard RJ45 connectors being relatively fragile and difficult to install in the field.
Our Solution
Shanwei Link supplied:
- M12 X-coded to RJ45 cable assemblies with IP67 protection.
- An M12 interface at the camera end and an RJ45 interface for connection to the NVR or network switch.
- Optional integrated lightning protection and grounding for coastal applications.
- Custom cable lengths from 1 m to 30 m based on installation height and project requirements.
Results
- Network-port damage caused by water ingress was reduced to nearly zero.
- Field installation time decreased by 50% compared with on-site RJ45 crimping.
The customer adopted the M12-to-RJ45 solution as the standard outdoor connection for its camera models.
